The true essence of the challenge comes from within, you choose to accept the challenge and you do your best. With such a philosophy every participant will be victorious.

Old Faithful is every bit as hard as 'The Fan Dance' if not harder. While the mountains aren't as high as Pen y Fan there are four of them and the weight limit has gone up for all categories. This is a serious test of mental and physical fitness and as with all our events, endurance and true grit are the essential prerequisites.
How long does it take to complete the march?
Candidates training for Special Forces "Selection" get round the course 4 hours-so look at between 4 and 7 hours for participants. The non load-bearing (clean fatigue) competitors will complete the course between 2 hours 30 - 4 hours. These times are estimates only and based on pas training sessions Weather conditions will invariably affect timings as will individual levels of fitness.
Is there a time limit or a cut off point?
There is no strict cu off point, however, the decision to allow participants to continue beyond a certain point rests entirely at the discretion of the Directing Staff manning the checkpoint. Even those with a fast time but displaying signs of exhaustion, injury or cold weather may be pulled from the event by any of the Directing Staff. This is for safety reasons and their decision will be final. Directing Staff retain the right to pull any participant from the march at any time. It should be noted that we have to observe the hours of daylight during the British winter time. We do not want anyone on the trail after last light.
Do you provide accommodation?
The organisers cannot offer accommodation before or after the event. However, we will soon be releasing our favorite B+B/hotel and camping recommendations with special rates only available for Slaughterhouse riders. Watch this space…
Can I do the event with my dog?

Please ensure you carry waste bags and also consider their water and food needs.
